The Art of the Question

The art of asking good questions is one of the most important skills we deploy on a daily basis in the world of work.

As you work to build this skill, it's important to note that unconscious bias can be the enemy of objectivity.

A simple tip to help ask better, more objective questions is to first ask yourself a question about motivation:

"Am I seeking to understand and learn" or "Am I seeking to point out fault and tear down?"

Workplace jealousy and unproductive internal competition can lead us to unintentionally frame our questions in the "seeking to tear down" category.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend.
